Rev. Donald Marsden to Speak at Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church
On July 17, Rev. Donald Marsden, an associate director of Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship, will be the guest speaker in the Kirk Adult Sunday School Class which meets at 9:00 am and in the worship service at 10:00 am. The 1991 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) made a commitment to share the Gospel among people groups where a Christian Church did not exist. The mission of PFF is” to challenge, mobilize and empower Presbyterian congregations into partnerships that establish indigenous churches among unreached people groups.” This mission movement grew out of directives from the scriptures such as God calling Abraham to leave the comforts of his home and family so that God could bless all peoples of the earth through him. Jesus crossed barriers to reveal God’s love for us. Now he calls us to cross cultural boundaries to share the Good News. In John 20:21 he said,”As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” The PFF is attempting to reach those people groups that have not been witnessed to in their own culture and language. Language and customs are significant socio-cultural barriers that separate one people group from another. “ Frontier Mission is about crossing these barriers in order to see the Gospel set free and indigenous churches planted in a culturally sensitive way. “ Rev. Marsden and his wife Laurie live in Henrico and are the parents of three children; one who has just graduated from high school, one from college and one in college. His position as associate director has taken him to remote areas of Ethiopia, Turkey, Russia, etc.; where he has worked with Arssi Oromo people, gypsies, Kurds and Moslems. Support for his ministry with PFF depends completely on donations made by personal supporters, churches and foundations.
Come join us on Sunday, July 17, for both Sunday School and Worship and hear more of his experiences of taking God’s word and love to those who have not had the opportunity to hear it in their own language and in their own communities where ever they may be.
