Our Church Leadership

Our Church thrives because of the energy and style of the people who lead it. Here are a few of the people that make our church community special:

 

 Rev. Donn Langfitt - Pastor

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jan Coulter -Clerk of the Session

 

The administration arm of the Session and is a liason between the pastor and the congregation.  The clerk follows the Book of Order to conduct meetings and takes the minutes of each of those meetings.  The clerk also maintains the records and files those approved records in the Kirk as well as with the Presbytery of the James.  Conducts statistical analysis on the demographics of the congregation as requested by the Presbytery. Records and transfers membership into and out of our church and maintains baptismal, marriage and death registries.

 

 

Elders

 

Sharon Aitken - Treasurer 

 

 Counts the weekly offerings, deposits all monies into the bank and writes checks to pay bills. Reports at the end of the month monies paid in and out. Manages the church savings accounts.

 

 

 

 

Ed Baker - Building & Grounds

Oversees the maintenance of the Buildings and Grounds

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and grounds.
  2. Either provide for or contract the cleaning of the building and grounds.
  3. Prepare the Sanctuary and / or Fellowship Hall for all services and functions

 

Robin Burdge - Mission & Outreach

Oversees the church’s internal, local and far-reaching mission endeavors. 

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. All forms of communications having to do with church activities to the congregation, the local media and newcomers to the community including the monthly newsletter
  2. Co-ordinates with the Presbyter, Presbytery sponsored mission projects.
  3. Co-ordinates community mission requests such as local food banks, Habitat for Humanity etc. requests

 

Ray Covey - Building & Grounds

Oversees the maintenance of the Buildings and Grounds

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and grounds.
  2. Either provide for or contract the cleaning of the building and grounds.
  3. Prepare the Sanctuary and / or Fellowship Hall for all services and functions

 

Mike Fix - Finance

Oversees the financial health of the Church.  The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Prepare the church’s yearly budget
  2. Maintain budget records
  3. Stewardship ( Mission and program interpretation)
  4. Financial Statements to the congregation

 

Linda Fosdick - Worship & Music

Oversees the various functions associated with the Worship and Music Ministries of the Church keeping in mind the Liturgical Seasons of the Church

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Communion, including preparation and serving of the elements
  2. Worship Service bulletins-format and print, bulletin inserts and pew cards
  3. Prayer Group
  4. Altar and floral arrangements; Hymn numbers and liturgical readings
  5. Ushers and greeters
  6. Worship service music, including organist and choirs
  7. Ministerial Supply

 

Gerry Miller - Christian Education

Oversees the planning and development of Christian Education of the Church.

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Provides Sunday School for children, youth and adults
  2. Provides Nursery Care
  3. Bible Study Classes
  4. Vacation Bible School
  5. Church Camp
  6. Co-ordinates continuing training for teachers, elders, church leaders utilizing Presbytery and both outside and inside sources.
  7. Youth Activities

 

Sandy Miller - Fellowship Care

Oversees the spiritual and physical well being of members and friends of the church including social activities

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Checking up on shut-ins
  2. Contact with members who haven’t attended services for several Sundays
  3. Serve if needed as the liaison between pastor and congregation regarding visits, off site communion, problems etc
  4. Monitor Prayer List
  5. After worship social hour
  6. Covered dish luncheons
  7. Special Events coordinator for funeral receptions, weddings, church picnics, church anniversaries, etc.
  8. Maintains and procures all supplies needed for social events
  9. Issues invitations for special social events

 

Ed Mitchell - Building & Grounds

Oversees the maintenance of the Buildings and Grounds

The functions of this committee include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing routine maintenance and repairs to buildings and grounds.
  2. Either provide for or contract the cleaning of the building and grounds.
  3. Prepare the Sanctuary and / or Fellowship Hall for all services and functions

Ash Wednesday Service (Feb 22nd) will be held at the Kirk at 7:15PM. Don't forget to arrive at the Fellowship Hall at 6:30PM and be treated to a Pancake Supper hosted by the Presbyterian Men.
